ALASKAN HUSKIES

I just read this article by Joe Runyan on the Cabelas Web site about the ALASKAN HUSKIES...

Great article it is so hard to tell people what is an ALASKAN HUSKY...
I always answer it is not a breed but a type of working dogs...  They are only bred and selected for working/sport purpose and it should remain like this to have OUTSTANDING ATHLETES

This article is very good read it !

COLD CAMPING TRIP

CAMPING TRIP ALASKA WAY

CAMPING TRES FRAIS

We came back this morning around 5am from a 130 miles camping trip.
It took us total of 18H30mn  including a give or take 6hr stop.

It was cold 20 below when we left the kennel here in the hills, probably 25 below on the river. When we left the Minto flats it was probably 20 below and it dropped as we got closer to Nenana to about 40 below on some spots...

All the dogs were dressed up with booties and coats... and I used the magical "chemical warmers" to make it through the trip !!!!

Temperature are going to remain cold for the next few days....

TEST DRIVE

NEW SLED TEST DRIVE

ESSAIS DU NOUVEAU TRAINEAU

Jacques loves his new sled ! he already did 2 training run on it and just loves it.

In couple of days we will go for a long run and then he will load it as he plan on loading it for the race.... So he can get a good routine.

Below picture of today taking off from the kennel.

IDITAROD SLED

New Iditarod Sled

Nouveau traineau Iditarod

We received today Jacques new sled for Iditarod.
Made by ANITPODE in France... The sled is beautiful and  looks great.
It is a 5ft sled in the front with a back part where Jacques can have his cooler and other stuff and sit on it.
Also WINDSHIELD to protect from the wind and special addition to protect Jacques hands if he encounter a tree like he did in 2005.

Tomorow Jacques will try the sled and I should have more photos.
Below are the photos take tonight in the garage when we put it together.
