19 DAYS TO IDITAROD START

19 days to the start of Iditarod

19 jours du départ de l'Iditarod

Tomorow we will be going to Charlie Champaine place in Salcha to cut about 800 pounds of meat for the race.

This will take us few hours to cut it with the band saw (each piece is cut about 3/4 inch thick)  and then packaging it so it is "ready to use" on the trail.

Tomorow evening we will be packing all the drop bags... I plan on taking photos and will keep you posted when I load them on the Gallery.

Here's a link to the dogs that we are training for Iditarod

Iditarod History

An Iditarod veteran now lives in Africa

An Iditarod veteran now lives in Africa

We just heard about one of the few French Mushers who has run the Iditarod, André MONNIER. He finished in 1987 with a team of Siberian Huskies. Well, he lives now in Mauritania (a country in the western Sahara Desert), is married with a local native and raises camels in the desert. Even there, it looks like he cannot live without dogs. Here are a couple of pictures of him, one of his daughters, camels and dog. We wish him well.

IDITAROD 2007

Hello

Jacques is now officially sign up for Iditarod 2007

List as of June 27th

This is the only and first race we really decided on for next season.

I know I will be in Wyoming for sure, I don't know if we will have one team or two. But we LOVE Wyoming, our hosts families and the race in the Beautiful Rookie Mountains.

Jacques is going in France in July to meet with is long time sponsor ROYAL CANIN DOG FOOD... they are with him for almost 20 years now...

Other decisions about which race we enter will be done later.

8:30am in White Mountain

Jacques arrived this morning at 8:30 am in White Mountain. He has 11 dogs I think he dropped Sphinx in Elim, he had told me last time called me Sphinx wasn't pulling anymore but he didn't know what was wrong with him.

He has an 8 hours mandatory layover there so he can leave around 4:30pm and then it is about 9 to 10 hr run to Nome...

Now I think he will be in Nome around 1am thursday morning!!!
