65 Dogs
65 dogs on training

65 chiens à l'entraînement.

I counted (or to be honest the computer did for me) and we are training 65 dogs right now.
We are doing teams of 12 to 14 dogs and are going only 4 miles.
26 of those dogs are yearlings (born summer 2006). |

J'ai compté (ou plus l'ordinateur a compter pour moi) et nous entraînons en ce moment 65 chiens.
Nous faisons des attelages de 12 à 14 chiens pour le moment et ne faisons que 7km.
26 chiens sont des jeunes de un peu plus d'un an (nés été 2006).

Jacques arrived this afternoon with our 30 dogs from Skagway.
Now the kennel is getting full with 77 adults dog and 18 pups.
We should start training in couple of days.... We first have to finish a bridge over a small creek so we can train withou getting stuck or haing to make the dogs swim.

Jacques est arrivé de Skagway cet après midi avec nos 30 chiens.
Maintenant le chenil est bien remplit: 77 adults et 18 chiots.
Nous devrions commencer l'entrainement d'ici deux jours. Nous devons dabord finir un pont au dessus d'un creek pour pouvoir entrainer afin d'citer de se planter avec le Quad ou de devoir faire faire de la nage aux chiens !

SEPTEMBER
SEASON END AND START

FIN ET DEBUT DE SAISON

Well tomorrow September will start which means first day of Moose Hunting season for us (15 days long only and I took my tag just in case) and fall is on it's way... leaves are starting to change colors and the temperature are around 45f early in the morning.
Jacques called yesterday and the last days of work on the Glacier is Sept 6th. So hopefully if the weather cooperate the dogs will be off the Glacier the 7th and he could be home the 8th.
We have a handler coming the 6th.
Since couple of weeks I started to work at the lodge next door. I'll work there all winter helping my friend out with the 7 rooms she has in her bed & breakfast and also with serving the breakfast and diner. In March I will also do "mushing day trip" for the customers.
I didn't start training yet but I will pretty soon. |

Demain nous sommes le premier septembre ce qui signifie pour nous le premier jour de la chasse a l'Elan (qui ne dure que 15 jours et j'ai pris mon ticket au cas ou) et l'automne arrive... Les feuilles commencent a changer de couleurs et les temperature avoisines les 5°c le matin tot.
Jacques a appeler hier de Skagway et le Camp ferme le 6 septembre. Donc avec un peu de bonne volontée du coté de la météo il descendra avec tous les chiens le 7 et sera ici le 8 septembre.
Nous avons un handler qui arrive le 6 septembre.
Cela fait environ 2 semaines que j'ai commencer a travailler au Lodge a coter de chez nous. Je vais travaillé tout l'hiver avec mon amie Pascale pour l'aider avec son lodge et le nettoyage des 7 chambres et le service de petits dejeuner et diners. En Mars je ferais aussi des tours a la journée en traineau.
Je n'ai pas encore commencer l'entrainement des chiens mais cela ne serais tarder.
