HANDLER BACK HOME

Retour en France

Our handler Matt went back home and he is now in Paris...
He was a great handler, very hard worker, pleasant to be around and most important LOVED the dogs and was taking pride on making sure his chores and job was done right....
Now he has to get use to life in busy Paris again without dogs...

Notre handler Matt est de retour en France....
Il a été un super handler, travaillant dur, plaisant et surtout il mettait beaucoup d'importance a ce que ces taches et travails qu'il avait a faire ici soit fait exactement comme nous le voulions... et le plus important de tous il ADORAIT les chiens.....
Maintenant il doit se rehabitué a la vie Parisienne !!!!

Tonight our friend Kate and Warren Palfrey arrived.
Warren just finished Iditarod... in 26th position
It is so good to see them... hopefully they stay a little before heading back toward Yellowknife !!!!

ONAC TRAIL

This morning was the musher meeting for the ONAC then we went check out the trail.
Buddy Streeper took me on the back of his 4 stroke Skidoo....
We started from the ramp at the end of 2nd street.... the river is nice the slough is icy, bad on some spot and some spots are perfect !
Creamers field NO SNOW... I don't think you can hook down in the field at all....
The dog trail don't have much snow either... the Overflow in the 30 miles is not very nice and Long but I think the trail crew will do their best to make it safe for Sunday...
Tomorow the race starts at 1pm : Below some info from the ADMA web site:
The 63rd annual GCI Open North American Championship Sled Dog Race will take place on 2nd Avenue in downtown Fairbanks, March 14, 15 and 16. The start order for Friday will be posted when available. The draw and "Meet the Mushers" event for this year's race wll be Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Westmark Hotel.
Racing begins at 1:00 p.m. each day. Coverage of the 2008 race will be broadcast locally on radio station KFAR 660 AM and audio streaming on their website, www.kfar660.com. Look on the left side of the page for the box that says "Listen Live." Coverage is scheduled from 12:00–4:00 p.m. each race day.
Webcams should be available showing 2nd Avenue from the Springhill Suites by Marriott webcam and the river ramp from the Pro Music webcam.

Ce matin avait lieu de musher Meeting et ensuite nous avons été faire une reconnaissance de la piste. Je suis aller avec Buddy Streeper sur sa nouvelle snowmachine 4 temps Skidoo.... La piste a très peu de neige, certains endroits sont très glacé et y'a meme de l'herbe ! sur certaines sections il ne faut meme pas penser planter l'ancre !!!
